Wonhundredwordwednesdays: rich with a catch...

I'm very excited to begin participating in Won Hundred Word Wednesdays! A group of authors all write a 100 word story based on a prompt! The following is my first entry!

Prompt: She had found something that would mean she'd never be poor again - but there was a catch

She lifted her eye from the microscope. It was confirmed again; the cancer cells were shrunken and dying. The leads followed from the horseshoe crabs, to the most recent “donor” had paid off.
Images paraded through her mind: accepting a Nobel Prize before a crowd, her face on journals, magazines, a mansion with a pool, she and her nephew afloat and laughing.
Then the image of Josie. Not so much flat-chested as sunken, withered, small. It had not been long ago.

But where would the world go with this, she thought, glancing at the fetus opened up on the table.

Now check out the others!

  1. That is a very interesting conundrum. It was expressed well.

  3. Very heartbreaking dilemma. One I wouldn't want to find myself in.
